HIST HISTORIC PORTRAITS POLICE FORCE POLITICAL TORY PARTY GOVERNMENT
PRIME MINISTERS

This subject was formerly offered in the Published Ross range as a monochrome
(Black & White) piece. It has now been re-released in hand coloured form
after consultation with a number of our customers.

Sir Robert Peel was the founder of the London Metropolitan Police
service, the first of it's kind in England. It is from Sir Robert's name
that we still informally know Police officers as "Bobbies" or "Peelers"

He was also twice a British Prime Minister, for the Tory Party, elected in 1834 & 1841
